First Lunch in with a Flair
Six members of Las Hermanas turned out for the first lunch get together at El Balcon on Monday. After the usual catching up on our summers, dog stories, and what we’ve heard from others in the group, chef Marcelino treated us to a beautiful four course meal. He started us off with a shrimp stuffed pepper in a chipotle cream sauce— a very elegant version of the rather mundane “jalapeño popper!” This was followed by an organic, vegetable soup flavored with a chile pepper olive oil. Then, a shrimp kabob with squashes, peppers and onions in a sweet and spicy tomato salsa with a side of quinoa. For desert, two home made scoops of mango and strawberry sorbet with a drizzle of chocolate and anise buds. Needless to say, we all went home full and happy!
The agenda items were tabled for future gatherings when more Hermanas will be present.
