Santa Anas Kick Up Fires in Northern Baja

In the last three days there have been 13 forest fires in the Tecate and Ensenada areas. Five fires continue to burn. Over 1300 hectares of chaparral and rangeland have burned. These areas include: La Bufadora, La Misión, Buenavista-4 Milpas, Rancho Orégano on the ejido Sierra de Juárez, Bajamar, El Porvenir, Álamo, Leandro Valle and El Sauzal, de Ensenada. And in Tecate the forest fires are in La Sierrita, Rancho Bancheti; in Los Manantiales and in Cerro Azul. There are over 150 firefighters, plus volunteers from various Mexican agencies on the ground working to contain the fires.

A Santa Ana wind warning issued by the Baja Civil Defense for Northern Baja continues from May 14 through May 15.
